You can have the Air Filter "wet washed" giving the illusion of saving money, while fitting a new filter allows you to assume you are safe from the risk of major engine damage.

Proven Fact: Filter manufacturers who have conducted tests on "wet washed" air filters have shown after only one wash a filter can lose up to 30% of its service life. In addition, the filter media is weakened by the washing process. Resins are leached out, and it is these resins that hold the fibres together in the filter media. When these resins are leached out during the "wet washing" process the fibres float free, causing a drop in the filters efficiency and integrity leading to a possible damaged engine.

Proven Fact:It is well known within the maintenance field that a new filter is less than 100% efficient. Not until the filter builds up a level of contamination, known as "pre-coat", does it achieve optimum efficiency. This process occurs during the first 20% of the filters life. Until this time contaminates can pass through the filter media.
